The Tilburg Tax association “De Smeetskring” is the study association for students who study Tax Economics, Tax Law or International Business Taxation at Tilburg University. This name is derived from Prof. d.r. M.J.H. Smeets. He taught Tax Law from 1931 until his retirement in 1967.
T.F.V. “De Smeetskring” tries to satisfy the social, study related and labour market oriented interests of the tax student by organizing activities and providing facilities. We organize various activities where students can get to know each other, for example the monthly Smeetskring drinks, trips, the study trip and other activities. In addition, we organize the ‘Tilburg Fiscale Bedrijvendagen’ and diverse in-house days to potential tax employers. This is an ideal way to get in touch with the labour market. To meet the study-related needs of the student, we organize the Tax & Skills-event, the Masterclass, the Tax Congress and various exam trainings.
In addition to all these activities we provide several facilities that makes the membership attractive. For example, we offer our members a free tax bundle each year. We also offer a discount on study books (15% on English books), we have an online magazine (circulaire.smeetskring.com) and we send the ‘Tilburgse Fiscale Bedrijvenwijzer’ to our members every year.
